A Year of Absence

Dear readers (if there are still any left) :(,

I cringe at the thought of being absent from my own blog for MORE THAN A YEAR!

I'm truly, truly sorry for such inexplicable procrastination. I will make it up to you all. I promise, I promise, I promise~ =)

Meanwhile, I've gotten myself a DSLR camera. Thus, the pics should turn out better than the ones taken with my iPhone. Hehehehe. =P

Some of the nicer examples include:

The songs in this CD are really nice. That is if you're into oldies like Neil Sedaka's Oh Carol, Tony Orlando's Tie A Yellow Ribbon 'Round the Old Oak Tree, Rosemary Clooney's Mambo Italiano, Connie Francis' Stupid Cupid, etc.
Just a candid shot of Hazel. :P

Just loving the auto-focus mode on my DSLR. =D

Shereen's starry tat~

Giving a sluggish, melancholic feel. Epic fail, though. LOL!

Capturing the clouds on film using the landscape mode.

Watch this.

Meddling with the shutter speed. =P

One of my favorite pics are these berry pics.

Bangers and Mash from Dave's Deli, 1 Utama Shopping Centre.

Beef Lasagne from Levain Boulangerie and Patisserie, Jalan Imbi Kuala Lumpur.
Ceasar Salad from Ben's, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2012 to all~<3

P/s: I promise that I'll post at least an entry a week. That is, if I get to eat at some place nice enough for me to blog about. Fair enough? Hehehe. =D

P/s/s: To all who have been reading my posts even though I haven't had any new posts for a year (I'm so sorry!), I thank you all for your support. I shamelessly (that's right) and sincerely hope you will all continue to follow my blog. Thank you again. Bless you all!!!

Dad's Birthday~♥

Hey Daddy~ It's your birthday~ We're gonna party like it's your birthday~

We celebrated Dad's birthday at Red Box, The Gardens Midvalley.

Needless to say, it was because of the buffet spread. Plus, some membership discount. Hehehe.

There was seafood e.g. prawns, mussels, bamboo clams, and lala clams.

Then, there was meat e.g. chicken, beef, lamb, and mutton.

And oysters~ Fresh, sweet, juicy, plump oysters~

Fresh sushi that were made on the spot.

Cheesecake and black glutinous dessert~

And some yam cream dessert~ Delicious~

We were served with this fruit platter because it was Dad's birthday.

There were fresh slices of watermelons, apples, oranges, pineapples and some longans~

Dad's birthday cake which looks absolutely delightful~

And we brought it home.

Dad blowing out the candles after making his wish.

Another year older and definitely wiser~

Smokehouse, Bangsar

The other day, Dad had a craving for scones and told us that there's this particular place that offers some of the best scones.

Thus, we landed ourselves at a cozy-mozy place called Smokehouse.

Earl Grey tea~
Time to tuck into some British goodness!

Scones served with butter, strawberry jam, and clotted cream. The scones were soft and crumbly. The best thing about them were they melt in the mouth. Truly one of the best scones that I've ever had.

The crème brûlée was not one of my favorites though. The sugary layer on the top was not crispy and the texture of the dessert was neither creamy nor rich in vanilla flavor. I still prefer the ones they offer in Zen.

Chocolate Brownie was also a bit of a let-down. It was neither drowning in those chocolate-y aroma nor flavor. Plus, it was a bit too dry.

However, if you're up for some British tea-time experience (such as scones!), then Smokehouse is the place to go.

The Smokehouse is located at 67, Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur. For further enquiries or reservations, call +603-2288 1510.

Mom's Birthday

It was Mom's birthday and we decided to try the Giant-Sized Iced Milk Tea at Wong Kok Char Chan Teng, Pavilion KL.

They certainly were not kidding when they said it's a giant-sized drink. It came in a bucket!

Here's a picture for you to estimate the size of the bucket of iced milk tea.

Chicken Chop Cheese Baked Rice is a must-have whenever we dine in at the restaurant. ;D

Spicy Spaghetti with Seafood was okay. Slightly disappointing as the sauce was really runny and watery.

Black Pepper Udon Noodles was really delicious because it was bursting with the good ol' peppery goodness. We couldn't get enough of it. =)

We ordered 4 different slices of cakes to celebrate Mom's birthday.
From left: Marble Cheesecake, High-Fibre Cheesecake, Strawberry Marshmallow Cheesecake, and Golden Nugget Cake. All are blissfully oh-so-yummy~
Happy Birthday, Mom~

Du Viet, KLCC

Ever since we came back from a cultural experience in Vietnam, we take pride in scouting for authentic Vietnamese food.

Thus, we ended up at Du Viet located on the 4th floor of Suria KLCC. Technically, we ended up there because we were walking around KLCC after submitting my iPhone to the Maxis centre for repair. Their customer service is bad but I don't think I'll discuss further in here. =T

Oh, I had to take a picture of their menu though. Dad bought a painting that looks exactly like the back view of the three girls above. =D

Colorful lanterns~

Fresh Honey Lime (RM8.90) and Vietnamese Cendol (RM8.90)

The fresh honey lime juice was superb~ Only authentic Vietnamese restaurants can make lime juice taste as great as the ones we had in Vietnam. Just the right sweetness and not-too-sour taste yet bursting with the lime-y fragrance.
The Vietnamese cendol was served in a glass filled with cendol, jelly, mung beans, jackfruit, coconut milk and gula melaka. Just swirl everything around in the glass and enjoy the fusion of a local Malaysian delight with its Asian neighbor~

Wrap and Roll Special Platter or Banh Hoi (RM29.90)

There were fried springrolls, sugarcane shrimps, grilled chicken and beef. These were served together with fresh vegetables, rice vermicelli, and rice papers.

Put the rice paper on your plate and top it with the grilled chicken, grilled beef, fresh vegetables, and rice vermicelli.

Then, add a sauce onto the dish. We had two types of sauce to choose from, which are spicy fish sauce and peanut sauce. You can add both if you like.

Then, wrap it up like this and then take a big bite of it. Oh, the fried springrolls and sugarcane shrimp are not to be wrapped into this. You can wrap them in too though it is not recommended as they are served as on its own.

Traditional Mixed Beef Noodles or Pho Do Bac Diet (RM15.90)

You can't get traditional Vietnamese dishes like this anywhere else except places that serve authentic Vietnamese food. Imported tenderloin beef fillet, stewed beef brisket, balls, and tripe were served in clear beef soup. It came with a side of mint leaves, bean sprouts and lime slices with which you dump into the soup for better flavor.

Special Seafood Soup Noodles or Pho Hai San (RM15.90)

Fresh prawns, fish fillets, fried shrimp balls, squid, and cuttlefish were served in mildly spicy soup. The soup was slightly spicy and sweet~

Crêpe with Durian and Cream~ Forgotten how much it costs though.

Kinda blurry but it sure tastes great. It's the same as the ones that you can get at Midvalley Megamall where one of the shops sell it for RM10 for 6 pieces. This was slightly bigger than the ones at Midvalley.

Vietnamese Coffee Drip~ Also forgotten how much it costs. =P

But I'll never forget the taste. Slightly bitter, creamy, and very aromatic~

Du Viet is located at Lot 416, Level 4, Suria KLCC, Jalan Ampang, 50088 Kuala Lumpur. For enquiries or reservations, call +603-2166 3630 or visit their website here.
