Just wanted to put a short note about this latest promotion by Chewy Junior at Pavilion.
They're selling a dozen of Vanilla Juniors or Chocolate Juniors chewy cream puffs for only RM6.
The other day, I wanted to buy one dozen of Vanilla Juniors. Then, the gal at the counter told me that they're selling RM5 for a dozen if I buy 2 dozens.
What else?
I bought 2 dozens (1 dozen for vanilla and 1 dozen for chocolate) for only RM10.
Don't miss this promotion. I dunno how long is it on for though. Either way, it's totally worth it even though it's retail price is RM6. The cream puffs are really delicious.
Chewy Junior is located at Lot P1.02.00 at the Lower Ground Level (located right next to Mercato. =)
Another Day, Another Note
I am officially a lazy person. Sigh. Apart from being almost buried under tonnes of assignments, I couldn't bring it to drag myself up to blog even when I have time to spare. Here's a list of what to expect (or wait):
1) JB/Singapore Trip 2) Kay's Birthday 3) A Trip to Ipoh
4) Christmas Gathering
p/s: Plus, another stroke of luck that I had. I'll blog about it if I have the time. Now, for a moment of epiphany; New Year's resolution #1: Stop procrastinating and finish writing all the blog posts!
I took the pics using our digital camera and iPhone. It's quite easy to distinguish between them. The ones with flash are taken using the digital camera whereas the ones without flash are taken using iPhone.
It was great because we had this huge Chocolate Walnut cake from Secret Recipe.
Birthday girl~~~~
Familiar shot, isn't it? I took a similar one during Dad's birthday. ;P
Great big smile~
Let's make a wish.
A big smooch from Dad. ;D
I huff and I puff and I blow the candles away~
This is a really delicious cake.
Love the crunchy walnuts and creamy chocolate mousse and soft chocolate cake and sweet whipped cream!
Kay's friend gave her a special birthday treat which is a jelly-cake from Q Jelly. Isn't it the cutest treat you've ever seen?
After weeks of crossing the River of Sluggishness, transversing the Valley of Procrastination and triumphing the Jungle of Lackadaisical, I've finally uploaded the pics from the digital camera. Apologies again to all my readers. Very very very sorry. Here are the pics and a couple of videos as well~~~~
Making funny poses with some of the art-like decos along Orchard Road.
LV~
Here are some of the pics that Teng took while we were on the HiPPo tourbus. =)
Here are the pics that Teng took when we went to see the Merlion statue.
This pic didn't really work out even after I photoshopped it. Teng was supposed to be standing nearer so that my head will look bigger and it will look more realistic.
Oh, and why did I photoshop it? It's not because I wanna photoshop flabby arms or double chin.
It's actually because........
........there was this auntie who was taking her pic behind as well. Haiyo! Auntie ah auntie! That's why I had to photoshop it. ;P
Sorry. My hands were in such an awkward position because I was tying my hair when Kay snapped the pic.
This video was taken while we were at this underground shopping mall place. The miniature ice-skating rink is darn cute~~~~
The 'Beautiful Peripherals' by Khiew Huey Chian.
Oh, the lady on the left is Mom's classmate during her high school days. Love the fact that they're still keeping in touch after all these years. =)
That's about it. Till then, Merry Christmas everyone~~~~ ;D
Oh, one last thing, just a video about a talking baby doll that can screw up her face to a crying expression when she's sad. Kinda realistic. I know this talking doll thing has been in the market for quite a long time. It's just been quite some time since I've browsed the Toys Department, you know. =P
I sincerely apologize for posting this blog entry waaaaaaaaaaaaaay so late. Let's rush on. There won't be much explanations (only captions) for the pics.
About a week or two before Christmas, Dad went on a business trip to Johor Bahru and the whole family decided to tag along. Thus, we decided to kill two birds with one stone and went to Singapore as well. =)
Below are some of the pics that we took at one of the R&R stops on the way to Johor Bahru.
Teng and Kay.
Me and Kay.
Mom and Dad. Very sporting. ;)
Teng posing with, erm, the fruit of some kind of palm-tree-lookalike.
A nice, white flower.
We stayed at the Grand Paragon Hotel at Johor Bahru.
Just wanted to show how the room looks like. ;P
After checking in, we went to Singapore. =)
Decided to snap a few pics while waiting for Mom and Dad who were getting some parking ticket stamps or something like that.
Yup, we parked at Marsiling. Say cheese~
Check out the MRT routes that Singapore has. Pretty cool huh? It was quite far though. We boarded the train at Marsiling station and it took us about 45 minutes to reach Orchard station.
Flammable liquid/gas? Who actually brings those on board?
Anyway, here are some of the stations that I took pics of for fun. =P
Finally~~~~
Looking cheery~
We then had dinner at this food court called Food Opera in ION Mall at Orchard Road. Here are some of the food that we had. Gotta love that lighting. Hehehe.
Full and happy. =)
We walked along Orchard Road after dinner.
I had this sudden impulse to take this pic. I seriously had no idea why I followed this lady for a 20 metres or so to snap the pic of her shopping bag. LOL.
Then, I used the iPhone application to turn it into this pic. Sort of emphasize the shopping bag, doesn't it? =)
I like this Christmas deco but I had a hard time snapping its pic from a nice angle.
Check out this Brobdingnagian meringue ($3.50 each) that was sold at Canelé Pâtisserie Chocolaterie.
Seriously huge meringue.
Canelé Pâtisserie Chocolaterie. ;)
After that, we decided to go on the City HiPPOtours bus and signed up for one of the night sessions. We took pics while waiting for our turn.
Here comes our free ride~
Love the view from a double decker bus. =)
So excited! LOL. Oh, Mom and Dad changed places.
Ready for take-off~
Most of the pics are as blurry as this. Well, it's not easy when you try to take pics from a moving vehicle with the wind slapping your face and making your eyes water. =T
=D
That pretty much sums up our day at Singapore and I finally got a nice shot from a nice angle. ;D
The next day, Teng and I had breakfast at the hotel restaurant/cafe.
We even went to the 2nd highest floor in Grand Paragon to take a look at their Elite Club. I think you have to pay like RM10,000 to be a member. =S
This is actually an elevator surrounded by glass panes and wine bottles. Yup, that leads to the highest floor in the hotel. Wanna take a look? Do you have RM10,000? =P
After that, we went to Singapore again. This time, we wanted to see the Merlion Statue.
Durian-looking Esplanade.
The Singapore Flyer on the left and some construction thingy on the right.
These white balls floating along Marina Bay are actually wish balls. There's this booth that was sprung up where people can write their 2010 New Year wishes on the balls. Then, the booth people will take the balls and drop them off at Marina Bay. =)
Merlion~ Hear me roar~~~~
Art imitating life~
The artwork is entitled "Beautiful Peripherals" by Khiew Huey Chian.
Isn't this view nice? It looks like I'm watching people in an ice-skating rink right? Well, I was watching mini-people in a miniscule ice-skating rink. =P
Later that night, we had dinner at a restaurant called Goh Zha Lang.
Iced Honey Lime and Soya Bean Milk.
Erm, I don't really remember the name of the dishes. So, I'll just show you the pictures, k? =P
Sweet potato porridge~
That was Day 2 of our trip and now for Day 3.
After checking out, we left Johor Bahru and went to Jusco Seremban 2. We had lunch/tea at a restaurant called Igentis. I apologize because I won't be listing the price for the food. That's because I couln't find the receipt. =(
Bubble Milk Tea.
With lots of black pearls~ Yums~
Chocolate Bubble Milk Tea.
Fried Glass Noodles with Chicken.
Seafood Tom Yam.
Nasi Lemak with Chicken Curry.
Lamb Chop with Salad and Fries.
Thus, that was our JB and Singapore trip. Sorry I took so long to post this up. I was contemplating whether to use pics from iPhone and digital camera. In the end, I settled for pics ffrom my iPhone because I was too busy to upload the pics from the digital camera. Sorry sorry. =(
Hello there~ Another blog post on Thai food at a place called Ahroy Thai Cuisine Restaurant. These pics are taken at the same restaurant during two different occasions (on the 11th of November 2009 and 27th of November 2009).
This is the Thai Cendol (RM4) which is quite similar to the local cendol that we have here. To be honest, I've forgotten what is the difference between this Thai version and the local version. =T
Another cendol look-alike is the Water Chestnut Dessert (RM5). I'm sorry about this. I forgot what is the exact name for it and all I have as reference is the receipt and it is stated W.CST/W/C/M. Thus, I decided to just name it as the Water Chestnut Dessert. Hehehe.
It comes with water chestnuts covered with pink starchy stuff around it. Plus, there were also strips of jackfruit. Not too bad but certainly not for those who can't tolerate the aftertaste of the jackfruit.
The Honey Lemon Juice (RM3.90) has just the right tinge of sweetness and sourness, which I like because I don't like it when these drinks are tooooooo sour.
This Barley drink (RM1.50) is a personal favorite because it has a lot of barley grains in it. Plus, it has this fragrant 'barley'-ness to it. Some places sell barley drinks that are practically diluted and this is definitely not one of them. ;)
The Chicken Feet Salad (RM9) is a perfect example of how Asians choose to devour useless parts of the chicken (usually feet are considered dirty, aren't they?) compared to Westerners. With such simple preparation for this dish, it can turn out to be very scrumptious and mouth-watering. One word: YUMMY!
The Fried Omelet/Omelette (RM6) came in the size of a 12-inch pizza. There wasn't much stuff in it. I think there were red onions, white/yellow onions, spring onions, and some diced chicken meat in it.
Time for Seafood Tom Yam (RM18 for small and RM25 for big)! A must-have when having a meal at a Thai restaurant. I've heard that one can judge a Thai restaurant based on its tom yam dish.
The broth was delicious and full of seafood of many kinds such as prawns, crabs, clams, squid, and others. However, the broth is full of sand-like stuff which I don't really know how to explain. Just imagine unfiltered water with grains of sand in it. This is like unfiltered broth. =P
Maybe an authentic tom yam is supposed to be full of sand-like stuff. I'm not sure. Nonetheless, it was certainly delicious. =)
The Pandan Chicken (RM12) is a must-try! It got me hooked during the first time we had it and I had to have it during our second visit to the restaurant.
The piece of chicken was very small. Yet, it was chockful of flavor that I don't really know how to describe. I don't really know how to explain the taste but it's definitely a good taste. Delicious~
This Fried Squid dish (RM13) was sumptuous as well. Crispy and flavorful (probably spiced) coating on the outside and chewy squid on the inside.
The Fried Kangkung (RM8) was normal though. Not good but not bad either. =T
This Tapioca Dessert (RM6) was truly delectable. A huge pile of boiled tapioca served with spoonfuls of thick, creamy coconut milk and topped with sprinkles of sesame. I'm usually not a big fan of this starchy root plant but this dessert definitely made a great impression to me.
And of course, the Sticky Rice with Mango (RM8) was a must-try for me because I love mangoes. Needless to say, any dessert that has mangoes in it is great enough for me. ;)
AhRoy Thai Cuisine is located at No.48, Jalan Manis 1, Taman Segar, Cheras, KL. It is located next to Leisure Mall.
Directions: To get there on foot from Leisure Mall, just exit Leisure Mall from the Secret Recipe and Wong Kok Char Chan Teng doorway. Then cross the road to Hong Leong Bank and you fill find the restaurant along the same row as the bank. **If you still can't find it, do call them at +603-9133 2330 for assistance.
A reminder: These dishes are not placed in accordance with the occasions. I just jumbled everything together.
You'll know that this cake is bound to be scrumptious because....
....it's packed with chocolatey goodness~ =D
Nice shot, right? =P
Yum yum. Can't wait. =)
Birthday boy (I mean, man) with the birthday cake~
Make a wish....
....and huff and puff and blow the candles out.
Heavenly~~~~
Later that night, we went out for dinner at a food court nearby our house.
This is also a nice shot. I'm kinda into the focus-blurring thingy at the moment. Hehehe.
Anyway, this is starch fin (not shark's). And why would I say that? Because it practically dissolved into this bowl of pan mee (or flat flour noodle soup) that we had. =P
A piece of steamed fish. Yummy yummy~~~~
And chicken chop with rice and coleslaw and fries.
Pretty simple dinner that we had but really delicious. =)
The other day, we went to this Thai place (I'm calling it 'place' because I still have no idea if it's a stall or a restaurant) near our house.
Oh, and it's a place because it's too big a stall yet too small a restaurant. It's some kind of eatery located by the road near Taman Seraya.
First stop, they have this one-and-only dessert called Thai Style Mo Mo Cha Cha. It's like the normal Bubur Cha Cha that we have which consists of pieces of yam and sweet potatoes in coconut cream. However, this Thai version has more stuff in it such as cincau (or grass jelly), Nata de coco, sago, and water chestnuts.
The Chicken Feet Salad was truly delicious. Because it was served cold, it was refreshing. Plus, the sweet and sour flavor makes it a great appetizer to get your saliva glands warmed up for the next dish.
This Deep-fried Squid with Cream Sauce exceeds expectations (mine, that is). I never really thought cream sauce would work well on seafood because I had it with crabs last time. I found that it tastes awful or maybe it was the chef. I'm not sure. But this cream sauce on the squid was very tasty as it had some hint of tom yam in it.
This is the Mango Chicken and yes, it wasn't as what we thought it was. I thought it would be chicken with mango sauce or something. It turned out to be fried chicken with shredded mango. It was spicy and very very very sour! A nice combination nonetheless.
Stir-fried Kangkung was delectable as well because the kangkung was very fresh. It was crunchy to the last bite. And I have no idea why the pics turned out to be like this.
This is the Lime Heong Lala dish and it was damn spicy. Kay took a tiny spoonful of the broth and was practically in tears seconds later. I took a small spoonful and choked at the taste of it. I have a feeling that they made the broth by squeezing the juice out of gazillions of bird's eye chilli. One spoonful was all it takes to blow your brains out. Exhilirating~
And the Seafood Tom Yam arrived at our table, boiling hot. It was quite delicious except that it had a lot of, erm, sand-like texture stuff in the soup. Kinda like it wasn't filtered or something. I'm no expert. Maybe authentic Tom Yam is supposed to be like that. I'm just not into the sandy debris stuff in the soup.
Oh, here's proof that the people who are running the place are Thai people. Our order was written in Thai language and handed over to the chef. Can't get more authentic than that, can it? =P
And they wrote the bill for us in English. Love the handwriting. =)
Actually, I wanted to use the term 'pulchritudinous' (meaning: physically beautiful) which is more appropriate to what I'm about to blog about in terms of its definition. But then, such a term wouldn't exactly make a good blogpost title, would it?
Anyway, the other day, when we were at Midvalley Megamall, we saw beautiful people. One of them happened to be Peter Davis~
Well, Kay didn't know who Peter Davis was until I gave her a crash course. And if you also dunno who he is, fret not.
Peter Davis is the main actor in the 2009 made-in-Malaysia production called Sellout!. I couldn't find much info about Peter Davis. Below is the trailer of the movie. =)
Pulchritudinous eh?
See if you can spot him. =P
Hehehe. He and some models were at Midvalley Megamall for the launching (or something like that) of a new (cosmetics?) brand called The Balm.
The girl models are gorgeous! (meaning: dazzlingly beautiful or magnificient).
Oh, he's retreating into the tent thingy. You can tell that he's quite shy. =P
Another gorgeous girl model.
Oooooo-la-la~
*slaps self and wipes away saliva*
Lovely features~
Pretty and Handsome.
At this point, you might think I'm a stalker judging from the pics that I took. Hehehe. I'm not. I just like to appreciate God's work of art on human. Beautiful~
I asked to take a picture of him. It was pretty awkward because I was supposed to take a picture WITH him. Geez. Oh well, at least this pic looks like an advertisement for Rayban or something like that.
Then, we saw Peter Davis taking pics with some people. Just a pic to show how slim and long his legs are.
We asked if we could take a pic with him and he obliged ever so politely. He's really really really shy! Handsome and shy. Exceptionally wonderful combination~~~~
I've been too preoccupied these few weeks coz I got a new baby~
An iPhone 3GS.
Sleek and slim. ;D
And we even got a nice set of 'clothes' for her (yup, I like to think of it as a she). Not cheap coz they cost RM50 after some bargaining.
But the best thing is I can take clear pics. I mean, with perfect definition and not blurry at all. And I love to use the focus feature thingy.
Like focusing on one particular object (calculator) and blurring the other objects (pencil box).
Or focusing on the pencil box and blurring the calculator. Hehehe.
And I love how clear I can see small objects such as the necklace. Heck, I can even see the goosebumps on my skin. =P
Pretty cool~~~~
And I like to use it to take pics of food.
Here are some shots that I took while visiting a temple during the Festival of the Nine Emperor Gods.
This was one of the chariot thingy used for the festival.
Then, I decided to try this angle which was surprisingly artistic. In my own opinion only. =P
And a different angle. This looks kinda wrong though coz Teng looks as though she's eyeing the man in white tee. LOL.
Teng paying respects.
Offerings in the form of tortoise which has significance to longevity, I think.
Very nice right?
And these are the dough figurines that we got in a lucky draw spin. Hehehe. The one on the left is a parrot and the one on the right is a rooster.
And we also have a rose.
And a little fish.
I took this pic while having lunch with my friend, Liyana.
Shots of other food too. Yummy waffle with double scoop of ice-cream from A & W.
Freshly brewed coffee from Milano~
Chocolate-flavored animal-shaped jellies from Q Jelly~
Can see the layers very clearly. =)
Took this pic while waiting for food.
Kay took this while Teng trying out her new specs.
Here are the pics of food that we had at SBread at The Gardens the other day.
Special Pink Barley (RM3.20) was a bit bland but the color was quite interesting. The lady said the pink color comes from this special flower/herb that they brew with the barley.
Thai Assam Laksa (RM6.80) was very very spicy. It came with a half a mackerel though which was quite a lot. =)
Chocolate White Bread (RM3.50) was absolutely delicious. Anything with chocolate is great enough for me. Hehehe.
Otak-Otak (RM6.50) was very big and very spicy. It had strong hints of lemongrass which was very good as it was not too overwhelming. Just enough to cover up the fishy smell of the fish.
Oh, did I mention that there are chunks of fish in it?
Delicious~
SBread is located at LG 232B, Lower Ground Floor at The Gardens. It is located along the pathway connecting Midvalley Megamall and The Gardens. For more information, call +603-2283 2929.
Oh oh oh. The iPhone also has very interesting applications which can help to create exceptionally wonderful pics.
Like this fish-eye view of the turtle-shaped offerings.
Which I can even put into a newspaper. =P
Or put Teng in an Andy Warhol-themed piece in a art gallery.
Or put Kay on a billboard.
Or put myself on a cup. =P
But the most interesting of all,....
....I get to make spooky pics with ghostly figures in it. Booooooooooo!
I'm just an ordinary girl-next-door who will blog about anything under the sun (well, mostly about food). Hehehe. Coz I love to eat. =P
Oh, I would like to stress that I did not receive any monetary or non-monetary compensation from anyone for writing any reviews about food, movies, places, etc.
The opinions expressed in my blog are purely and entirely based on my personal tastes and may vary for others. =S
However, thank you for visiting my blog. Do feel free to browse around and leave some comments. Cheers! ;D
