Actually, I wanted to use the term 'pulchritudinous' (meaning: physically beautiful) which is more appropriate to what I'm about to blog about in terms of its definition. But then, such a term wouldn't exactly make a good blogpost title, would it?
Anyway, the other day, when we were at Midvalley Megamall, we saw beautiful people. One of them happened to be Peter Davis~
Well, Kay didn't know who Peter Davis was until I gave her a crash course. And if you also dunno who he is, fret not.
Peter Davis is the main actor in the 2009 made-in-Malaysia production called Sellout!. I couldn't find much info about Peter Davis. Below is the trailer of the movie. =)
Pulchritudinous eh?
See if you can spot him. =P
Hehehe. He and some models were at Midvalley Megamall for the launching (or something like that) of a new (cosmetics?) brand called The Balm.
The girl models are gorgeous! (meaning: dazzlingly beautiful or magnificient).
Oh, he's retreating into the tent thingy. You can tell that he's quite shy. =P
Another gorgeous girl model.
Oooooo-la-la~
*slaps self and wipes away saliva*
Lovely features~
Pretty and Handsome.
At this point, you might think I'm a stalker judging from the pics that I took. Hehehe. I'm not. I just like to appreciate God's work of art on human. Beautiful~
I asked to take a picture of him. It was pretty awkward because I was supposed to take a picture WITH him. Geez. Oh well, at least this pic looks like an advertisement for Rayban or something like that.
Then, we saw Peter Davis taking pics with some people. Just a pic to show how slim and long his legs are.
We asked if we could take a pic with him and he obliged ever so politely. He's really really really shy! Handsome and shy. Exceptionally wonderful combination~~~~
I've been too preoccupied these few weeks coz I got a new baby~
An iPhone 3GS.
Sleek and slim. ;D
And we even got a nice set of 'clothes' for her (yup, I like to think of it as a she). Not cheap coz they cost RM50 after some bargaining.
But the best thing is I can take clear pics. I mean, with perfect definition and not blurry at all. And I love to use the focus feature thingy.
Like focusing on one particular object (calculator) and blurring the other objects (pencil box).
Or focusing on the pencil box and blurring the calculator. Hehehe.
And I love how clear I can see small objects such as the necklace. Heck, I can even see the goosebumps on my skin. =P
Pretty cool~~~~
And I like to use it to take pics of food.
Here are some shots that I took while visiting a temple during the Festival of the Nine Emperor Gods.
This was one of the chariot thingy used for the festival.
Then, I decided to try this angle which was surprisingly artistic. In my own opinion only. =P
And a different angle. This looks kinda wrong though coz Teng looks as though she's eyeing the man in white tee. LOL.
Teng paying respects.
Offerings in the form of tortoise which has significance to longevity, I think.
Very nice right?
And these are the dough figurines that we got in a lucky draw spin. Hehehe. The one on the left is a parrot and the one on the right is a rooster.
And we also have a rose.
And a little fish.
I took this pic while having lunch with my friend, Liyana.
Shots of other food too. Yummy waffle with double scoop of ice-cream from A & W.
Freshly brewed coffee from Milano~
Chocolate-flavored animal-shaped jellies from Q Jelly~
Can see the layers very clearly. =)
Took this pic while waiting for food.
Kay took this while Teng trying out her new specs.
Here are the pics of food that we had at SBread at The Gardens the other day.
Special Pink Barley (RM3.20) was a bit bland but the color was quite interesting. The lady said the pink color comes from this special flower/herb that they brew with the barley.
Thai Assam Laksa (RM6.80) was very very spicy. It came with a half a mackerel though which was quite a lot. =)
Chocolate White Bread (RM3.50) was absolutely delicious. Anything with chocolate is great enough for me. Hehehe.
Otak-Otak (RM6.50) was very big and very spicy. It had strong hints of lemongrass which was very good as it was not too overwhelming. Just enough to cover up the fishy smell of the fish.
Oh, did I mention that there are chunks of fish in it?
Delicious~
SBread is located at LG 232B, Lower Ground Floor at The Gardens. It is located along the pathway connecting Midvalley Megamall and The Gardens. For more information, call +603-2283 2929.
Oh oh oh. The iPhone also has very interesting applications which can help to create exceptionally wonderful pics.
Like this fish-eye view of the turtle-shaped offerings.
Which I can even put into a newspaper. =P
Or put Teng in an Andy Warhol-themed piece in a art gallery.
Or put Kay on a billboard.
Or put myself on a cup. =P
But the most interesting of all,....
....I get to make spooky pics with ghostly figures in it. Booooooooooo!
The other day, we went to Leisure Mall and saw that there's this new place called Cravings Lane.
There were a number of people gathered around a certain spot. So, we went to see what was all about.
Turns out there's this cool sensor thingy. Whenever you step on this pond, it creates ripples as a real pond would. Except your feet won't get wet in this pond. =)
Check out the video that I took. Hehehe.
Pretty cool right? =D
On another note, when we parked our car in Leisure Mall, this particular car caught our attention.
Would something like this ever get away unnoticed?
Check out the number of miniature toys that this car has!
Not to mention the amount of glue. =P
Lots of different toys~
Most of them are collectibles, I think.
There are even toys at the front of the car.
And on the windowsill.
Hehehe. Cute, isn't it?
Just as we were leaving after taking the pics, we saw several others approaching the car and taking pics of it. =P
That day, we went to Tropicana Mall simply coz we've never been there. =P
And we had dinner at a nice place called Taiwan Street. Didn't take a pic of the entrance of the restaurant coz too many of their staff were standing there and calling out to potential customers. Scared scared. =P
Here are what we had for dinner that day. =)
Cantonese Loh Shue Fun (RM10.80) was very delicious.
I love the nice thick flavorful gravy. Plus those juicy mushrooms and bean sprouts add a nice contrasting texture to it. Bean sprouts add some nice crunch to the otherwise soft 'bleb bleb' dish.
Special Mixed Rice (RM4.90) was tad bland for my liking.
It had this herbal taste (the kind of taste you would get from herbal tea eggs) but it was not strong enough. Not that I want strong. It was just too subtle. I could barely make out the taste but managed to. =P
Salted Chicken Chop with Rice (RM11.90) was yummy yummy.
Juicy fried chicken chop can never go wrong (unless the chicken has been cooked too dry). But this one was juicy and salty with a nice crispy skin.
Ying Yong Meatball Noodles (RM7.90) was normal.
Noodles were just like a typical Maggi noodles or wantan noodles. Only difference was the meatballs were used instead of fishballs. =T
From left: Iced-blended Cappucino (RM5.90), and Ying Yong Pearl Milk Tea (RM4.80)
I really love the drinks that they made. Strong coffee taste for both drinks. I didn't get to see how the drinks were made and I know they might have used flavored powder but I still love the drinks~
Yam Milk Tea (RM4.80) with Pearl (+RM1.00)
Another favorite of mine. Love the strong yam essence used in this drink. And really love the generosity in the 'pearls'.
The owner was very nice and friendly. He occasionally came over to ask us about how were the food. Then, he gave us three cup coasters (as above). So cute~
Teng looking full and happy.
Taiwan Street is located at L2-11, Level 2 in Tropicana Mall. For more information about the restaurant, check out their website here (as stated on their cup coasters).
After dinner, we walked around and saw this place called....
It was Mom's birthday and we went to Red Box at The Gardens to celebrate.
They had a nice touch of Halloween theme (though it's a tad too early for it). =T
Oh, there was this rude girl that we encountered at the check-in counter.
Dad asked a number of questions about the buffet, rates, room, etc.
Example of questions are "What are the rates for dinner?", "Are there any other packages?", "What time is the last call for buffet?". Normal questions that a normal first-timer would ask if they were to go to a new place coz we usually go to Neway.
Therefore, Dad wasn't sure how the system works and wanted to make sure. Then, we were shown to our room by another staff.
Just as we left the check-in counter, Kay heard the girl said, "Hou fan ah" (translation: Very annoying) to her colleague.
Walao. NMH. Ask questions about the karaoke stuff is also considered annoying?
It's NOT like we were asking about questions that are not related to their operations system. It's NOT like we were asking about what sort of hebs they put in their soup-of-the-day or if the toilet has enough toilet paper for a person with irritable bowel syndrome or hyperactive bladder.
Questions about rates, buffet food, room service are considered normal.
True enough, she might have encountered those questions like million times in a day.
But if she were to work there at the damn check-in counter, she should expect questions like these and answer them with a broad smile on her pasty-white sulking face.
Ooohhh. Maybe there are pathetic assumptions like 'Maybe she was tired' or 'Maybe she had family problems' or whatever.
So?
She had a problem and she can let it out on people and then expects people to understand? Not professional at all, considering it's the front line of a place that should give priorities to good service.
Without good service, there won't be a good impression. Without good impression, there will be no customers. And without customers, she can eat sand for all I care.
Just don't freaking get on my nerves because I despise being treated like shit.
And I don't want my dear ones to be treated like that either.
Anyway, back to Red Box. Each of us had this tag.
Teng and Kay couldn't wait to get started on singing. =)
And I started on the buffet. Yummy!!!!
Oh, this fresh fruit platter was included in this package that we took.
Plus 3 jugs of drinks. =D
Check out the food that we took.
Fresh oysters~~~~
Sushi~~~~
Food....
More food............
Dessert~~~~
And more food..........
Dad feeding Mom. =P
Teng always likes to pose for pictures. =)
Dad and Kay singing a song. =D
I also pose pose with Teng. Too lazy to retouch this pic.
Mom and Dad.
Make a wish~
Blow out the candle~
Teng's greedy look. LOL.
Birthday kiss from Dad. =X
Schweet picture~
Teng and Kay belting it out....
....complete with facial expression of such passion for singing. =P
Overall, the service was exceptionally good (considering it was marred by the girl who worked at the check-in counter). Well, the service by waiters/waitresses/chefs was very good.
One of the waiters was very very very helpful. He looks like a Malay and, yet, he speaks perfectly fluent Cantonese. He attended to every single need that we have. Like when we need the batteries for the microphones, when do we want the cake to arrive on the table, etc.
Thus, it has its balance of good and bad, I suppose. You just can't win 'em all.
Anyway, Red Box The Gardens is located at Lot FF203 - 205 Fourth Floor, The Gardens, Mid Valley City, Lingkaran Syed Putra, 59200 Kuala Lumpur. For more information, check out their website here.
Update: I sent a comment to the Red Box Customer Service department through their website. I don't shoot people, k? I just commented on the girl's attitude and praised the good service that they provided. It was quite a long email though. A few days later, a man named Chris called back to check on the details and said he will investigate it. He was very nice and said I offered constructive feedback. And he even offered a 20% discount on a visit to Red Box Plus (valid until 31 Oct 2009). Exceptional customer service too, you know. I didn't accept nor decline the offer coz I said I'll think about it. Diplomatic answer although I ended up not going. =P
I love creams puffs, especially the ones with lots of custard in it. However, if you think that custard is too bland or thick or something, then you might wanna try the cream puffs from Chewy Junior.
The cream puffs are made to perfection in terms of its taste and texture. Slightly crunchy on the outside and bursting with cream (chocolate, cream cheese, etc) on the inside.
I didn't manage to take pics of the shop but I did take pics of its cream puffs! =)
They come in this very cute box.
There was a promotion at that time. When we bought 6 cream puffs,....
....we got 3 cream puffs free of charge. Of course, the choice of cream puffs are totally up to you, including the free ones. Not those 3 flavors that are specifically free. Anything you choose is okay. =)
I forgot the names for the cream puffs though. Sorry. =P
We cut them up into 5 bite-size pieces when we got home so that all of us can have a taste of each.
The ones with chocolate taste great especially with more chocolate cream goodness in it. And I personally like the one with lemon cream. Its tangy flavor is neither too sour nor too sweet. Just nice with a tinge of lemony flavor. The others are quite good too and some not as good because I didn't really like the cream cheese filling that was in them. Tastes weird to me. Bleb bleb bleb. =P
Chewy Junior is located at P1.02.00, Level 1, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. It's right in front of Mercato and MOF @ Japanese Sweets & Coffee.
Yesterday, I met up with Ee Chin, Kun Looi and Whitney to celebrate Looi's birthday. We waited for the birthday girl at Whitney's house. Looi had set the time to meet there at 12pm and she showed up at almost 2pm. =T
So, while waiting for her, we got to see Whitney's new German Shepherd puppy. Erm, at first I thought it was a typical pint-sized type of puppy.
And it turns out that her puppy is....
....this big!
And he's a curious one, indeed.
He's five months old. That's why he's still a pup.
He likes to nip at Whitney's hand. Ee Chin and I felt safer inside the house. =P
So mousey-looking. Cute~~~~
That's one big puppy, right?
And very playful coz he likes to be scratched on his neck and belly. =P
When Kun Looi arrived, we went to Midvalley for a while before heading to Koreatown for dinner. Looi said that we should try some Korean BBQ. I'm up for anything. =)
The restaurant's name is called Royal Palace (Korean translation: 령왕대). I think it's the first restaurant on the left after the Pasaraya Lotte Mart.
Take your pick~~~~
They have barbeque sets for 2-3 persons, 3-4 persons, etc. These sets come in chicken meat only, beef only, chicken and beef, pork and beef, (something like that coz I forgot the exact combination that they have). They also have a whole lot of seafood as well as desserts.
We ordered the chicken-and-pork barbeque set for 3-4 persons. *drools*
The barbeque pit with red-hot charcoal underneath. I somehow think that it resembles the tire rim of a car. =T
A myriad of side dishes from anchovies to chives to kimchi to nori to many more.
Patiently waiting for the pork to cook.
Oh, the round white thing in the middle is actually a slice of onion. There was this waiter who cooks the meat for us and he probably put it in there for its flavor.
Now you see them raw,....
Now you see them cooked, cut and piping hot! The waiter really was a great help. =)
You take the piece of meat and put it on a piece of lettuce.
And remember the various types of side dishes that were served earlier? You get to put them with the meat and wrapped them all inside the lettuce.
Use your creativity in sense of taste and try whichever you think will complement the meat. The sky is the limit!
Alas, I'm not that creative. I prefer to stay on the safe side by dipping the meat in sesame oil and wrapped up with chives and garlic. Safe but damn delicious!!! =D
More pork~~~~
And I used the same routine of lettuce, meat, sesame oil, chives and garlic. =P
Then we have the chicken meat which was marinated in kimchi paste.
After the meal, the barbeque grill thingy looks charred and dirty. But it really was a great dining experience altogether!
While we were leaving the restaurant, the owner asked us if he could take a pic of us because he wants to put it in his restaurant.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that there's this section with lots of pics of people posing while eating in his restaurant. And, yup, we let him take a pic of us posing outside his restaurant.
It would do him justice if I have the exact address of his restaurant but I really don't have it. I only know that it could be the first restaurant on the left after you see the Pasaraya Lotte Mart. And it only opens from 5 or 6pm onwards.
Korean BBQ, checked. Hmmmmm. Now I wonder if there is such a thing as Spanish BBQ. =P
It was the first day of Raya and we didn't really have much to do. So, Dad took us for breakfast at a dim sum eatery near our house coz it's been quite some time since we last had dim sum.
Lotsa different types. Yums~~~~
I wonder how they wrap the dumpling to the shape of the one on the left. =T
Love these fried prawns wrapped in foo chuk (a.k.a. dried beancurd skin or tofu skin). The prawns are big and succulent, and the tofu skin is oh-so-crispy. Love it~
Finishing fast.
Teng posing for a pic.
Showing her I-wonder-which-to-eat-now hungry face.
We ordered more of these fried prawns in foo chuk.
And Teng had her it's-all-mine hungry face. Hehehe. =P
After breakfast, Dad got a call from his friend inviting him to lunch at his house for Raya.
Thus, we're on our way.
Dad's friend has cats of various colors and breeds.
Meowrrrrrrrrrrrr~
So much kitty litter. =T
And they had one angry cat that kept hissing. Must have been scared to see so many of us surrounding his cage. =P
Lunch was great with lots of lemang, ketupat, rendang, curry, sambal, etc. I didn't take pics because we were all seated at the dining table and it would seem weird and rude to click away while people were eating.
One more kitty.
And this is the biggest cat that they have.
Basically, that was how we spent the first day of Raya. Forgot how we spent the second day, third day, and so on.
However, on a random note,....
....there was this sudden urge to boom boom pow when Teng showed me this when we were at Carrefour the other time. =P
I'm just an ordinary girl-next-door who will blog about anything under the sun (well, mostly about food). Hehehe. Coz I love to eat. =P
